Hello Mr. Eppleman, We just returned from a wonderful 9 day cruise out of Baltimore. We went to Bar Harbor, Maine, St. John, Nova Scotia, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Boston.
Our wonderful agent Madison Popanz had booked the cruise for us. She is so very helpful and we have used her many times and hope to use her many more. The cruise was on the Grandeur of the Seas and it was a great ship. She is large but we soon figured out how to get around. I traveled with my husband and 15 year old daughter. We enjoyed many ports of call but our most favorite was Halifax. The captain on the ship announced every morning and afternoon where we were and how far we had come. Which I found very interesting and helpful, since we had some bad weather and rough seas with fog!! The ship has a large two tiered dining room and the waiters are from 30 different nationalities. My assistant waiter even helped me with spanish as I am learning that language. There was live music in the dining room part of the time we ate. A violinist and pianist. The food was, I would say good, some were great. It was all very plentiful and nicely presented. The cream soups were extremely good, as were the cold fruit soups. We used the dining room for most of our meals except we did use the buffet Windjammer for breakfast twice. I would say not as good as the dining room although they did have a omelet station set up. Some of the food was lukewarm. The fruit was good and fresh though. They did run out of skim milk at one point and only had whole millk or chocolate which my daughter loved.
We loved our steward for our room. Very helpful. He let us stay in our room until our color and number were called on the last day for dparture. He had towel animals in our room every night and our daughter lerned how to make a monkey and surprised him on the last day with four. We had an inside cabin which had two beds and a overhead bunk for our daughter. we had him make the two beds into one, more room too. It was well appointed. It had a small desk and even had a small safe for valubles. It did not have a refreigerator but our steward brought ice each night. When we got back to the port in Baltimore they called us by colors and numbers. Very organized. All in all a very nice and relaxing cruise.
