While returning to New York from Bermuda on Friday,
, Norwegian Crown experienced a technical issue with the ship’s starboard propeller shaft. While this has affected the speed of the ship, it has had no impact whatsoever on the safe operation of the vessel. Unfortunately, the reduction of speed resulted in a delayed arrival into New York, with the ship arriving Monday, August 27 at 6 a.m. instead of its scheduled arrival on Sunday, August 26.
A team of divers inspected the propeller shaft this morning and, unfortunately, the inspection revealed damage to the seal in the starboard propeller shaft, which will require a replacement of the seal versus a repair. Engineers have immediately started the repair work, but based on the bigger job, the ship is now expected to leave on Tuesday between noon and 4 p.m.
Norwegian Crown is fully operational with all of the ship’s restaurants, lounges, entertainment venues and spa open for passenger use, while the ship is alongside.
Based on this new timeframe on repairs, NCL has developed a revised itinerary for this cruise. The itinerary is below:
Day Port Arrive Depart
Tue New York, NY Noon to 4:00 PM
Wed
Thu Hamilton, Bermuda 9:00 AM overnight
Fri Hamilton, Bermuda —- 4:00 PM

NCL would like to thank its guests and travel partners for their patience and understanding in this unforeseen situation. As a result of this schedule change, NCL is now extending a 50 percent refund of the cruise fare paid and a 20 percent future cruise credit (based on the fare paid for this cruise) toward a future cruise with NCL. NCL will also be refunding government taxes and fees of approximately $34 to the guest’s on-board folio. If a guest prefers not to sail, NCL will, of course, provide a full refund of the cruise fare paid plus all applicable taxes.
