If you are one of the lucky cruisers who were able to obtain a stateroom on the Queen Elizabeth 2 Farewell Celebration 2008 World Cruise, then you’re already aware of how exciting this event is going to be..
A world cruise in itself creates life long memories, but add to that the final voyage of the most famous liner in the world, and you have history. Special events in many ports will highlight the entirety of this voyage. In preparation for the voyage, Cunard has issued this important information regarding visa requirements and medical advice. Please read them carefully and make this final journey worry free and one you’ll cherish the memories of for years to come.
VISA REQUIREMENTS
BRAZIL
On this voyage, you will be visiting the Brazilian ports of Salvador and Rio de Janeiro. The government of Brazil requires U.S. and Canadian passport holders to obtain a Brazilian visa to VISIT or TRANSIT Brazil. This visa must be obtained in advance of your voyage and is required regardless if you choose to remain onboard or go ashore. In addition, the visa should be obtained after October 26, 2007 to ensure validity for entry into Brazil.
Please note that Yellow Fever vaccination is not medically required based on the itinerary. However, it may be required in order for some guests to obtain a Brazilian visa (see below):
An International Immunization Certificate against yellow fever is required if the traveler has been to any of the following countries within the last 90 days or will visit any of them before entering Brazil: Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Guyana, Ethiopia, French Guiana, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda and Venezuela. A list of countries endemic for yellow fever is available at www.who.int.
CHILE
The Chilean government charges a reciprocity fee to all American, Canadian, Australian, and Mexican citizens entering Chile through Santiago’s International Airport. The amounts charged are as follows (subject to change without notice):
U.S. citizens: USD $100, Canadian citizens: USD $132, Australian citizens: USD $56, Mexican citizens: USD $15
The reciprocity fee cannot be pre-paid; it must be paid by every person directly at the Immigration Office at the International Airport, and it must be paid in cash (US Dollars only). In addition, the fee may be paid by credit card (Visa or American Express) or by American traveler’s checks.
AUSTRALIA
On this voyage, you will be visiting the Australian ports of Sydney, Hobart, Adelaide, and Albany. The government of Australia requires all non-Australian and non-New Zealand passport holders to obtain an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) to VISIT or TRANSIT Australia. An ETA is an electronically stored authority to travel to Australia and can be obtained online at www.ETA.immi.gov.au or through participating travel agencies or airlines. This visa must be obtained in advance of your voyage and applies regardless if you choose to remain onboard or go ashore.
You can only apply for an ETA while you are outside of Australia. You also must hold an ETA-eligible passport from one of the following countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong (SAR), Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Republic of Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, UK British Citizen or UK British National (Overseas), USA, Vatican City. All other nationalities should consult with the Australian consulate or a visa service to obtain the required Australian visa.
CHINA
On this voyage, you will be visiting the Chinese port of Shanghai, for which a visa is required for entry. The government of China requires all U.S. and Canadian passport holders to obtain the visa in advance of arrival. All guests are recommended to purchase a double-entry visa (valid for 6 months) for entry into Shanghai. Note that we do not recommend obtaining the single entry visa as this will expire 3 months after issue and therefore there is a risk that the visa will expire before your arrival in China. The fee for a double-entry visa is the same as for a single-entry visa. This visa must be obtained in advance of your voyage and is required regardless if you choose to remain onboard or go ashore.
When applying for your double-entry visa for China, you may be required to provide the Chinese Embassy or Consulate with your voyage travel itinerary (see below). Therefore, please include this letter with the application for a double-entry visa for Shanghai. Following is the voyage itinerary.
