Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Family Cruising On The Gem

By Gregg Eppleman • Dec 16th, 2007 • Category: Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)

Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) Norwegian Gem showcases the special attention NCL pays to family cruising. Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) family suiteAccomodations include a variety of connecting cabins, family suites and the now famous Garden Villas. The beauty of the family suite is that the adults get to spend time in a luxurious suite, with beautifully appointed sitting area, master bedroom and bath, while the kids get their own separate room within a room, complete with bath and closet and room for three. The one I viewed on the Norwegian Gem was the Amethyst Suite. As you can see, the master suiite is georgeous, and and has all the comforts of luxury.

Even if you go without the kids, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Norwegian Gem suitea standard suite is still very spacious, and allows plenty of freedom to entertain your favorite couple or friends, as well as take advantage of room time on your own. I love the coffe makers in the suites as you can grind your own beans, and enjopy the aroma of fresh brewing in your room.
But the whole idea of a family vacation is to take along the family. One question that always arises is what can the kids do. On the Norwegian Gem, as all the NCL ships, the kids are divided into three age groups and the teens are separately entirely. Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Norwegian Gem Tree top Kid's ClubThe onboard counselors will keep the 2-12 year olds busy with arts and crafts, treasure hunts, painting, sports and pajama parties. The Unlimited Beverage Program assures that they will never go thirsty, and that you won’t go broke. NCL also provides a computer and movie room featuring Nintendo Wii, and play area in the Tree Tops Kids Club.
Not to be outdone by the young tykes, the teens are offered the Leopard Lounge, which has movies, parties, sports, activities and get togethers, 3 plaza TVs, video arcade, dance floor and non-alcoholic bar, and juke box, table football and air hockey. This all makes it extremely hard to get bored, or not have other kids to mix with. This center promises to be a center of activity on any cruise.Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Norwegian Gem Leopard Lounge Kids can also learn about the environment from the Officer Snook Program offered on the Gem, learning how to keep our oceans clean and how NCL participates in that effort. They will be proud to be NCL passengers!
There is so much more to tell, but I think there is enouh here to get you to investigate how great this ship is, and how you and your whole family can take a vacation, and come back with stories to tell all your friends. Don’t wait as rush season is approaching and these cabins will being sold quickly. Enjoy an NCL cruise on the norwegian Gem like I did.
