Costa Cruises More Than Doubles Asia Capacity for Cruising

By Gregg Eppleman • Dec 18th, 2007 • Category: Costa Cruises

Costa Cruises, already the leader in Europe and South America cruising, Costa Classica Asia Cruises 2009is now attempting to solidify its Asia market reputation by adding a second cruise ship in Asia. The 53,000-ton Costa Classica will be moved to Asia betginning in March 2009, and will add over 1,600 beds to their inventory. Costa cites increased demand for the move, and expects the ship to fill quickly. Majestic and modern are just some of the ways you could describe Costa Classica, one of the most majestic and modern boats in their fleet. Costa offers the best value in Asia cruising when compared to its ultra-luxury competitors.

Carrying 1680 guests, Costa Classica will be deployed from March 27 through to November 7, 2009, on 33 cruises lasting between four and 14 days, with departures out of Singapore, Shanghai, Tianjin and Hong Kong on itineraries offering the finest destinations in several Asian countries.
The leading cruise line in Italy and Europe, Costa Cruises was the first international company to schedule regular cruises in China and Asia, deploying the 28,500-tonne Costa Allegra in the region in July 2006.
With a second cruise ship in the Asian market, Costa will offer nearly 55,000 additional berths with a total of over 60 cruises, thus bringing its overall capacity in the region to 85,000 berths.
As is currently the case, the two ships will be aimed to meet the needs of local Singaporean and Chinese clientele, who are responding to Costa’s product in ever-increasing numbers, and to international cruisers, including customers from other Asian countries and Australia.
More than 50,000 guests have sailed on the Costa Allegra on a total of approximately 100 cruises since her deployment to Asia. From November 2008 to November 2009, Costa Allegra will offer 30 cruises, some of which will be 14-day voyages, with departures from Hong Kong and Singapore.
Costa Cruises in China was recently awarded “The Best Marketing Promotion Award” in GOLD LIST TRAVEL AWARD 2007 organized by TRAVELER, and the “Top International Cruise Line Award” 2007 organized by World Traveller.
These two awards demonstrate that Costa Cruises has a solid leadership position in the China market and continues to gain consumer regard across the Asia Pacific region.
