Regent Seven Seas Cruises Adds Technology to Shore Excursions
By Gregg Eppleman • Feb 28th, 2008 • Category: Regent Seven Seas Cruises (RSSC), Shore ExcursionsThe “#1 Small-Ship Cruise Line” in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2007 Readers’ Choice Awards poll, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, is determined to maintain that number one ranking by introducing a revolutionary headphone system this year, allowing cruisers participating in shore excursions and land tours to hear their guides clearly and effectively no matter where they are in the group. The system will be carried aboard Regent Seven Seas ships and used on tour excursions where the company’s expert lecturers and guides find it particularly useful, including historic and religious landmarks where loud conversation is forbidden.
The innovative system utilizes a small microphone through which
the user can speak directly to guests wearing individual, lightweight headsets. Created in Italy, the system allows Regent Seven Seas lecturers and guides to provide guests with key facts and expert insight as they tour international tourism sites.
The system will debut on June cruises to the Baltic and Europe aboard the 700-guest, all-suite, all-balcony Seven Seas Voyager®, and the 490-guest, all-suite Seven Seas Navigator®, as well as on the September 10 Grand Asia Pacific cruise aboard the 700-guest, all-suite, all-balcony Seven Seas Mariner®. The headsets are individually packaged and disposable, meaning guests will receive a new, completely sanitary set with each tour.
“Having our own system allows us to use it across a wide spectrum of Regent shore excursions and gives us the flexibility to provide our guests with enlightening information and commentary at all times,” said Dairus Mehta, Director of Land Programs for Regent Seven Seas. “The system represents another first for The Regent Travel ConciergeSM, giving our guides an intimate and effective way to provide key details to guests as they tour historic landmarks.”
