MSC Cruises is taking the Big Band theme cruise and expanding it in the Caribbean in an effort to get more of the music lovers onboard who don’t wish to make the sojourn to Europe for a cruise. They have scheduled a second Big Band cruise, this time in February due to high demand for that type of music at sea on the December cruise.
MSC Cruises is pleased to announce that the fabulous 15-piece Les DeMerle Big Band, featuring vocalist Bonnie Eisele will join the February 22, 2009 sailing of the MSC Lirica - this is in addition to their already scheduled performances on the December 3, 2008 sailing of the MSC Lirica . Dynamic drummer Les DeMerle has toured and recorded with the Harry James Big Band and Wayne Newton; the band has also accompanied many top singers, including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., The Manhattan Transfer, Mel Torme and Al Jarreau. The Les DeMerle Big Band is sure to have toes tapping, bodies swaying and guests singing along to the sounds of Ellington, Basie, James and Miller, plus the biggest Broadway hits, rock ‘n’ roll classics, hot Latin grooves and show-stoppers from the 40s through today. In addition to their performances the band will perform a Big Band Jazz Concert and conduct a lecture on the Big Band Era.
